Wheel Throwing

Wheel throwing was the most challenging project that I completed all semester. I started out using B-Clay, and making it into a sphere. Once it was even, I threw it into the middle of the wheel with some force. I had my bucket of water next to me, a piece of felt like material, and a sponge, It was key to keep my hands wet throughout the process. I made a v-like shape with my hands and put some force into it in the opposite direct of me. After it was spinning in a circle. I was able to build it up by pulling slowly with my hands. After that, I pushed down with my thumb and pressed with my pointer finger. I used the felt and sponge to shape it and smooth it. I used a pointy tool once I was done to check the thickness of the base of my piece. Nothing about this process was easy. I ended up covered in clay 90% of the time. If it wasn't for the help of Mrs. Barrens I wouldn't have a piece.
